The 2026 Hill Country Ad Litem Seminar is 12 continuing education hours (including 3.0 ethics hours), over 2 days, streaming live on Zoom and with limited in-person seating available (in Kerrville).

If you missed a session OR want to take the Seminar at-your-own-pace – your registration will include access to the Seminar’s video showcase for 12 months following the Seminar, under password protection. When the video becomes available, you will receive an email from us with log-in information.

CLE INFORMATION FOR ATTORNEYS

For Attorneys reporting to the State Bar: You will need to self-report CLEs to the State Bar, with limited exceptions. We will provide the course number during the Seminar in each break for self-reporting purposes. If you attend in person, HCCASA can report your hours for you (visit the registration table for more details).

CEU INFORMATION FOR SOCIAL WORKERS

Tami Logsdon, LPC-S Presenting: Supporting Clients During Grief and Loss

Tami Logsdon, LPC-S

 Tami is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor with 15 years’ experience working with adolescents in inpatient, school, and detention settings. Tami’s passion is bereavement support for children, adolescents, and adults. Specialties include bereavement counseling following death by suicide utilizing narrative therapy combined with expressive arts therapy.

 Tami is the Grief Education Specialist for the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, located in San Antonio, Texas. She regularly presents on children’s grief for local school districts, non-profit community organizations, counseling programs and recently presented for Communities In Schools Whole Child-Whole Community Conference 2025.

Kathleen Sauvage- Attorney at Law Presenting: Legislative Update: Deep Dive into the Removal of Termination Grounds

Kathleen Sauvage

Kathleen Sauvage is a graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law where she received her law degree in 2016. Prior to attending St. Mary’s, Mrs. Sauvage received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, Mrs. Sauvage resides in San Antonio with her husband Tyler, daughters Emma and Allyson, as well as her three dogs. At the beginning of her legal career, Mrs. Sauvage interned at the Bexar County staff attorney’s office for the Civil District Courts and was a part time law clerk for the Ireland Law firm. After obtaining her license to practice law, Mrs. Sauvage was kept on as a junior associate at Huesser & Ireland, P.C., where she worked for 3 years prior to beginning her own legal practice. The Law office of Kathleen M. Murray, PLLC opened in December of 2019 with a primary focus on child welfare cases. Mrs. Sauvage’s memberships and certifications include the Texas Association of Family Defense Attorneys (TAFDA), Bexar County Children’s Court Ad Litem’s Association, the Texas Bar College, and being Board Certified in Child Welfare Law. Since beginning her legal career almost ten years ago, Mrs. Sauvage has discovered a true passion for advocating for both parents and children in the child welfare system.

Tres Jackson Presenting: Criminal Justice Interactions with People with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Michael Leslie Jackson III (Tres) began to exhibit developmental delays at the age of 18 months and benefitted from assistance through Early Childhood Intervention Programs, HeadStart Programs, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and accommodations for most state required standardized tests (until high school) and in college. Tres was always mainstreamed into general education classes in public school with special education support. In high school, he participated in the Explorer Program at the Belton Police Department where he gained insight into the world of law enforcement. In 2020, he began presenting on the topic of “Autism and Law Enforcement” and since that time, has trained hundreds of police officers, jailers, dispatchers, probation officers and concerned citizens. Tres graduated from Belton New Tech High School in Belton, Texas in 2018, is employed by FireStreet Pizza and Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom Retreat Center for Children and recently became a Registered Behavioral Technician.

Anne Potts Jackson, Attorney Presenting: Criminal Justice Interactions with People with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Anne Potts Jackson graduated from Texas Tech University in 1991 and Baylor Law School in 1995. She has been a prosecutor for approximately 20 years, working in the Lubbock, Taylor, McLennan and Bell County District and County Attorney Offices. She has specialized in family violence and crimes against children and has presented on topics ranging from “Emerging Technologies in Domestic Violence Prosecution” to “Family Violence in Military Families” to “Autism and Law Enforcement”. Anne is married to Michael L. Jackson Jr., (Lt. Col., USAF, Ret.), and lives in Belton, Texas with their 3 sons Tres, Read and Cole.

Dalia Castillo-Granados, Director and Co-Founder, Children's Immigration Law Academy, American Bar Association

Dalia Castillo-Granados is the director and co-founder of the Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA), a project of the American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on Immigration. Dalia is a frequent speaker on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and led the effort at the ABA to advocate for deferred action for SIJS youth stuck in the visa backlog. Prior to working at CILA, Dalia was a senior attorney at Kids in Need of Defense, a staff attorney at Tahirih Justice Center, a clinical supervising attorney at the University of Houston’s Immigration Clinic, and a Greenberg Traurig, LLP Equal Justice Works fellow at Catholic Charities’ Cabrini Center. Throughout her career, Dalia has represented hundreds of children in their immigration proceedings and before Texas state courts. Dalia is also active in her community. She is on the steering committee for the End SIJS Backlog Coalition, the advisory board for the National Immigration Litigation Alliance (NILA), and a board member of the Galveston-Houston Immigrant Representation Project (GHIRP). Dalia was also the 2023-2024 president of the Houston Association of Women Attorneys (AWA).

Amie R. Serrano, TDFPS Appellate Attorney- Presenting: Case Law Updates

Amie R. Serrano is an appellate attorney for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Prior to serving in this position, Amie represented the Department in litigation across multiple counties as a regional attorney. Prior to joining the Department, Amie was employed as an Assistant Bexar County District Attorney where she represented the State in various criminal courts and at mental health commitment hearings, then as an Assistant Bexar County Public Defender where she represented adults with mental health issues in criminal court, and finally as a general solo practitioner. As an appellate attorney, Amie represents the Department in appellate proceedings before the Texas Supreme Court and all fourteen courts of appeals. She also serves as an advisor and reference resource to regional attorneys, district attorneys, and county attorneys on a wide range of trial and appellate issues. Amie was awarded the Kathy Amonett Award of Excellence in 2025. Amie is a graduate of South Texas College of Law and is Board Certified in Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Melissa J Cuadrodo, TDFPS Appellate Attorney- Presenting: Case Law Updates

Melissa J. Cuadrado is employed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as an appellate attorney. Prior to serving in this position, Melissa represented the Department in litigation across multiple counties as a regional attorney. Later, she was named as a Region 8 Managing Attorney and handled immigration issues across the state. Prior to joining the Department, Melissa was a Clinical Fellow in the Immigration Clinic at the St. Mary’s University School of Law’s Center for Legal and Social Justice, then was employed as a Senior Staff Attorney at RAICES, a San Antonio area non-profit, representing undocumented children in federal foster care. As an appellate attorney, Melissa represents the Department in appellate proceedings before the Texas Supreme Court and all fourteen courts of appeals. She also serves as an advisor and reference resource to regional attorneys, district attorneys, and county attorneys on a wide range of trial and appellate issues. Melissa is a graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law.

Lauren Fisher Flores- Attorney and Legal Director for the American Bar Association ProBAR

Lauren Fisher Flores is an immigration attorney and longtime advocate for children and families. Lauren is the Legal Director of the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR), a project of the American Bar Association's Commission on Immigration. ProBAR provides legal services to immigrant children and families, including children detained in 21 federal government shelters in Corpus Christi and the RGV, adults detained at PIDC and El Valle detention centers, and families in the RGV and Houston-area communities. In 2014, Lauren was recognized by the Texas Access to Justice and the Texas Supreme Court for her pro bono work. Her article, “Protecting the Vulnerable Among Us: Notario Fraud and a Private Right of Action under the Texas DTPA, was published in the Journal of Consumer & Commercial Law. Lauren is a member of the Texas Bar, graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, and holds a graduate degree in Early Childhood Studies from UT Brownsville. Lauren has lived, studied, and worked on children’s issues in Honduras, Mexico, Chile, and the U.S. - Mexico border. 

Michelle Cummings, OAG Child Support Division-Presenting: When Child Support Issues Exist in CPS/Child Welfare Cases

Michelle Cummings is the Managing Attorney at the Temple Child Support Office. Prior to joining the Office of the Attorney General, she operated a private law practice in Bell and McLennan County for five years, with a primary focus on cases involving Child Protective Services. Michelle earned her Juris Doctor from UNT Dallas College of Law in 2019. When she is not working, Michelle enjoys gardening and sewing. She resides in Belton with her husband and children.

Heather Monroy, Senior Regional Attorney for Region 7- Presenting: Child Support Issues In CPS/Child Welfare Cases

   Heather Monroy became the Senior Regional Attorney for Region 7 in April 2021. Prior to that, she was the Managing Attorney of the Pflugerville office, where she had worked since 2013. She began her career in 2009 in Temple as a temporary AAG, before moving to the South Austin office in 2010. Heather settled in the Austin area after initially coming for school. She received both her Bachelor’s degree and J.D. from the University of Texas. She lives in Pflugerville with her husband and 2 kids (13-year-old Xavier and 9-year-old Anastasia “Stasi”).

Sean Levison, Attorney- Presenting: Parole and Corrections: Dealing with TCCJ and Incarcerated Clients

Sean David Levinson is the founder of the Levinson Law Firm. Sean’s office is a boutique law firm focusing on parole matters throughout the state of Texas. In addition to representing clients before the Parole Board, he also handles parole revocation hearings, Medically Recommended Intensive Supervision (MRIS) cases, Blue Warrant issues, pre-incarceration client consultations, and planning/strategy sessions with defense counsel.
