10th Annual Child Protection Court Ad Litem Seminar

General information for attendees

CLEs – Attorneys seeking CLE credit will need to sign in and out at the registration table each day. HCCASA staff will submit CLE to State Bar on your behalf. Bring your Bar # with you.

CEUs – Attendees seeking CEU credit registered with TEA will need to sign in and out at the registration table each day. We will provide a certificate for each day that can be filed with TEA by the attendee (HCCASA cannot file on your behalf for TEA credit).

CASA CE hours – All CASAs who attend both days of the Seminar will meet their annual CASA continuing education requirement.

Registration Fee – Is $100 / registrant. This includes both days of the Seminar, as well as breakfast and lunch both days.

Location – The Seminar will be held in the banquet halls at Inn of the Hills which are located in the back of their property (see Parking). Inn of the Hills is near the southeast corner of Junction Highway and Harper Road in Kerrville. HCCASA banners will be placed out in front of the property.

Lodging – Registrants requiring lodging may take advantage of a Seminar room block rate at Inn of the Hills. Attendees, please contact Inn of the Hills directly at (800) 292-5690 and request the “Hill Country CASA Group Rate” which includes Wednesday and/or Thursday nights.

Parking – Free parking is available around the perimeter of the Inn of the Hills campus. The majority of parking spaces are near the back of the property, by the banquet halls (which is where the Seminar will be). Turn off of Junction Highway and head to the back of the hotel property for closest parking.

Raffle – we have several great raffle prizes, proceeds for HCCASA’s direct assistance fund (which purchases necessary items for children in foster care) – bring cash or checkbook to enter to win!

12:45 PM   How Misunderstanding Trauma Harms Foster Children (Kristen Bell, JD, Director of Operations and Program Attorney at Texas Lawyers for Children)


2:00 PM   Preventing Misdiagnosis of Foster Children, and the Attorney’s Duty to seek Non-pharmacological Interventions (Barbara Elias-Perciful, JD, Director, Texas Lawyers for Children)


3:15 PM   Trauma-Informed Advocacy, and the Attorney’s Ethical Duty Involving a Child’s Constitutional Rights (Patricia Hogue, JD, Special Projects Attorney, Texas Lawyers for Children)
