Hope Closet

Kerr County Child Services Board hosts the Hope Closet at 309 Earl Garrett to support immediate needs of children in foster care.

Children who must be removed from their homes to protect their safety are often moved very quickly, with little advance notice to them or their family. This may mean the child doesn’t get to pack any belongings to take with them when they leave.

That is where Kerr County Child Services Board steps in. If a child has immediate personal or educational needs; or a relative who is taking placement of the removed child needs items to ease the transition of the child into their home, Kerr County Child Services Board steps in to provide for these needs very quickly.

The Kerr County Child Services Board is funded partially by donations of Kerr County juror’s fees, partially by grant funding from local agencies, and partially through donations from citizens wanting to help children in need.

Right now, we are looking for the following items for the Hope Closet. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation of items or gift cards. As Kerr County Child Services Board is 100% run by volunteers, all of your generous donations go straight to the people in need.

  • Gift Cards to WalMart, Belk, JC Penney, or other local clothing retailers
  • Educational Supplies (pencils, markers, notebooks)
  • Pack and Play infant / toddler travel beds
  • Fire extinguishers (must have an expiration date printed on the can or a label affixed)
  • Smoke and / or Carbon Monoxide detectors

We have plenty of the following items and ask that until further notice, folks please refrain from donating:

  • Backpacks
  • Duffel bags
  • Lockboxes
  • Diapers
